As I walk around the streets of Amsterdam, I’m thinking about the disappointments and setbacks we all face in this game called life. In this video I briefly share with you one of my biggest setbacks as a speaker, with the purpose of adding value to you.
After getting extremely negative feedback from an audience of youth leaders in Phoenix, Arizona, I spent a number of weeks seriously thinking about never speaking to an audience again. If it wasn’t for the encouragement from my friends and colleagues to keep pushing forward, I would have quit.
Failure will happen sometimes and when it does you have to surround yourself with the right people, pick up the pieces, and keep going. Choose to keep believing in yourself. Consider these wise words from Eminem:
“I’ve been chewed up and spit out and booed off stage, but I kept rhyming and stepped right into the next cypher.”
