Bad Leaders Are Everywhere
If there are so many great leadership books out there, why are there so many bad leaders?
I’ll give you my take on it (and I’m always interested to hear your thoughts as well if you’d like to share).
It’s because the people who are reading the leadership books and applying the lessons need it the least.
It’s one of those things where leadership experts tend to “preach to the choir”.
The people who most need the leadership content are often ignoring it.
The people who need leadership help the most are often the ones fastest to reject it.
They don’t want to listen, and you can’t make them.
Be a Persistent and Consistent Leader!
With that said, what I’ve found in my experience is that there’s enormous value in continually putting yourself out there over time.
Some people may not react or resonate the first, second, third, or fourth time they see leadership content from you and others.
They may not react the thirtieth, fortieth, fiftieth, seventieth, or even the hundredth time they see it.
But you WILL get through to some people you never would have thought you’d connect with.
Persistence and consistency are your two best friends.
While it’s true that you will likely never be able to get through to everyone, it’s nearly guaranteed that you will get through to someone.
Leadership Is a Skill That Can Be Learned
The good news is that leadership is not something that is magically bestowed on people. It’s a skill that can be learned.
People are malleable. People are willing to learn. Not everyone, but a good amount of people.
Don’t give up.
Some of these leaders who are struggling have had some really difficult experiences in the past that cause them to doubt themselves.
They need you because your content, your example, and your leadership is going to encourage them to take action.
